The Parenteral Nutrition (PN) Calculator App is a specialized clinical mobile application developed for Fresenius Kabi, a global leader in healthcare products and services. The app was conceived to address a critical gap in clinical workflows — healthcare professionals, specifically registered dietitians and nutrition support pharmacists, were relying on cumbersome Excel spreadsheets to perform complex parenteral nutrition calculations during patient rounds. This manual process was not only time-consuming but also prone to errors, creating inefficiencies that could impact patient care quality.

The vision behind this project was to transform these spreadsheet-based calculations into an intuitive, easily accessible mobile tool that healthcare professionals could use directly at the point of care. By placing powerful clinical calculators in the palms of dietitians and pharmacists, the app eliminates the need for bulky spreadsheets and enables real-time, accurate nutritional assessments right at the patient's bedside.

At its core, the application features multiple advanced calculators including the Kabiven PN Order Analysis Calculator, ASPEN Guidelines Calculator, SMOFtriven Order Analysis Tools, and comparison calculators — each designed to evaluate and recommend optimal parenteral nutrition formulations tailored to individual patient needs. The app provides detailed result displays with visual indicators, comparison tables across different bag sizes, bar graph visualizations benchmarked against ASPEN guidelines.
Beyond its calculator capabilities, the platform serves as a comprehensive clinical resource hub, offering educational materials including clinical guidelines, best practices, ongoing research related to parenteral nutrition, and case studies.
