An online application for students to request storage services that made storage simple at Northwestern University
Northwestern University needed an application to make it very easy for students to calculate and order storage services from a website. This was an NU student’s initiative for on campus storage and shipping services. They wanted to divide the project into multiple phases experimenting with the user experience at each stage creating a cool, easy and fresh UI.
Research and Discovery
The client came to us with an abstract idea making us focus on the user experience and the design flow. We needed a discovery phase to define the entire process and the after understanding the concept and functionality of the project we communicated with the client about what would be covered in the first phase.
UI, speed, and security
It would be a challenge to meet the clients need for a friendly and youthful design while keeping the usability of the UI intact. Completion of the project was needed before summer session started. Focuses on the website included speed, security, and usability with a partially automated website processes.
Solution and Execution
Discovery and Design
We proposed an Apt solution to our client suggesting the levels at which solutions could be automated. The solution we proposed was designed and developed using PHP. Research was completed to define the flow process before creating a wireframe of the project to explain the actual design flow to the client. A dedicated team was set up including account manager, project manager, senior designer, HTML developer, senior developer, and a testing analyst.
Implementation and Scalability
We designed the website and text logo with a fresh look that is visually appealing to attract the target users. The unique design was completed with timely design revamping along the way. We used code that is XHTML validated and CSS managed DIV based design for the website allowing cross browser functionality. The website design and development was done keeping in mind future scalability and the addition of further modules. We envisioned the website to have a good mix of high performance and visual appeal. The website was built with an SEO compliant structure for better visibility over major search engines.
